Change history

medium impact Current term

  • QuickBooks plans have limits on users and accounts.
  • There are two ways forward when you hit a limit.

The What

On QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials or Plus, the chart of accounts can hold up to 250 accounts. Billable users top out at 1, 3 and 5, by plan.

The Why

If your team grows, you may hit the user cap and need a bigger plan or fewer users. Making an account inactive is one way to stay under, and which plan you're on decides your limit.

  • Your accountant doesn't have to take one of your QuickBooks user spots.
  • You just have to invite them the right way.

The What

QuickBooks has a separate invite just for accountants. Anyone you add that way can fix your books and help at tax time, and they don't count against your plan's user limit.

The Why

If your plan is already full, you can still bring your accountant in without dropping a teammate or paying for a bigger plan. One thing to know: only certain admins on your account can send the invite.
